General Information


The IBPS RRB Recruitment Notification for 2017 is out. The IBPS RRB VI Exam is for the recruitment of Group A – Officers (Scale I, II and III) andGroup B – Office Assistants (Multipurpose). The exam for the same is to be conducted between September and November 2017. There are separate selection procedures for both posts so you can apply for both posts.

You can be posted in any of the RRBs (Regional Rule Bank) mentioned below.

Note: 

  • A candidate can apply for the Post of Office Assistant (Multipurpose) and can also apply for the Post of Officer.
  • However a candidate can apply for only one post in officer’s cadre i.e. for Officer Scale-I or Scale-II or Scale-III.
  • Candidates have to apply separately and pay fees separately for each post applied for.
  • Candidates are advised to regularly keep in touch with the official IBPS website for details and updates.

Your final scores are obtained in these steps:

  1. The number of correct answers given by you in each objective test are considered for arriving at the corrected score, after applying penalty for wrong answers.
  2. The corrected scores so obtained by you are made equivalent to take care of the minor difference in difficulty level, if any, in each of the objective tests held in different sessions to arrive at the equated scores.
  3. Scores obtained by you in any test, are equated to the base form by considering the distribution of the scores of all the sessions.

Furthermore, the Total weighted score while calculating the overall cut off, is calculated through the method given ahead.

Calculation of Total Weighted Score & Cut Offs in IBPS RRB Exams

  • For Office Assistant

Prelims 2017 Cut Offs applied in these 2 stages = (i) scores in individual tests (ii) on Total Score.

Prelims 2017 Score =  Scores obtained in Reasoning + Numerical Ability.

Mains Total Weighted Score = Scores obtained in (Reasoning × 1.25 + Computer Knowledge × 0.50 + General Awareness × 1.00 + English Language/ Hindi Language × 1.00 + English Language/Hindi Language × 1.00 + Numerical Ability × 1.25)

  • For Officer Scale-I

Total Weighted Score = Scores obtained in (Reasoning × 1.25 + Computer Knowledge × 0.50 + General Awareness × 1.00 + English Language/ Hindi Language × 1.00 + English Language/Hindi Language × 1.00 + Quantitative Aptitude × 1.25)

  • For Officer Scale-II (GBO) and Officer Scale-III

Total Weighted Score = Scores obtained in (Reasoning × 1.25 + Computer Knowledge × 0.50 + Financial Awareness × 1.00 + English Language/ Hindi Language × 1.00 + English Language/Hindi Language × 1.00 + Quantitative Aptitude × 1.25)

  • For Officer Scale-II in Specialist Cadre

Total Weighted Score = Scores obtained in (Professional Knowledge × 1.00 + Reasoning × 1.00 + Computer Knowledge × 0.50 + English Language/ Hindi Language × 0.50 + Financial Awareness × 1.00 + Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation × 1.00)

(A) EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION & WORK EXPERIENCE (as on 01/08/2017)

Office Assistant (Multipurpose)

(1) Degree in any discipline or equivalent.
(2) Desirable: Working knowledge of Computer.
(3) Proficiency in local language of RRB.
(4) No Work Experience required.

Officer Scale – I (Assistant Manager)

(1) Degree in any discipline. Preference to some streams.
(2) Desirable: Working knowledge of Computer.
(3) Proficiency in local language of RRB.
(4) No Work Experience required.

Officer Scale – II (General Banking Officer)

(1) Degree in any discipline with min. 50%. Preference to some streams.
(2) Computer Knowledge or Computer Awareness
(3) Proficiency in local language of RRB.
(4) Two Year Work Experience required.

Officer Scale – II (Specialist Officer – IT)

(1) Degree in relevant discipline with min. 50%.
(2) Desirable: Certificate in ASP, PHP, C++, Java, VB, VC, OCP etc.
(3) One Year Work Experience

Officer Scale – II (Specialist Officer – Chartered Accountant)

(1) CA from ICAI
